Able & Willing International Educational Foundation (AWIEF) is a grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing schools and improving health and nutrition in areas of extreme poverty and need.
The entirely volunteer staff coordinates physical construction of buildings and manages program development to ensure that schools and programs can ultimately govern and sustain themselves.
Our operational model relies on dedicated project leaders with talent and skills acquired both in their native countries and in the United States, who have a dream and determination to return to their native county to improve the lives of their country’s men and women. Friends and supporters of Able & Willing understand that this is the most effective kind of foreign aid that they can give to the world.
Starting work on the first school building in 1994 in a rural village in Zaire (now, DRC) that was without schools, electricity, toilets, wells and other amenities, the school now offers preschool through high school and technical school on two campuses and maintains the best academic record in the Katanga Province according to national exam results. (See the yearly progress on our history page.) Key to our success is the talent and dedication of our founder who developed his construction and business skills in his native country and the United States.
